Turkey Shoot-Out Official Rules


2024 Turkey Shoot-Out Basic Tourney Rules

  1. 2X15 minute runtime periods, 1x12 minute stoptime period
    2 minute warm-up
    1 minute break between periods
  2. One :30 timeout/per team/per game.
    Referee to signal the timekeeper who will keep a manual count and give a horn blast signaling the end
  3. 5 second puck drop rule. Refs will simply drop the puck after a summoning whistle and 5 seconds
  4. All drops after a penalty call are in the offending teams defensive zone
    Offsetting penalty situations result in a drop at closest appropriate dot
    Clock starts on penalties in runtime period on puck drop.
  5. High stick (non-penalty situation) in the offensive or neutral zone faced off at neutral ice
    High stick in the defensive zone faced off in the defensive zone
  6. (Blue Line Icing ) For the purpose of icing the center red line is no longer a factor. For icing to be
    called the puck must be shot from inside the defensive zone blue line. A referee error on icing will be faced off at center ice
  7. Players are capped at 3 goals for all Divisions except TOP LEVEL
    Tournament Director has the right to cap an above level player at any time. (Ringer Rule)
  8. 4 penalties to a player result in a game ejection plus possible further discipline
  9. 15 total penalties in a game results in runtime
  10. Runtime after a 5 goal lead. Stop time in 3rd period returns if less than a 5 goal lead restored.
  11. Incidental/accidental high stick with a minor injury results in a double minor penalty
  12. Head contact including face pushes results in a minor plus 10 minute misconduct
  13. A punch/swing to the head results in a major and game misconduct plus possible further discipline
    Intent to Injure and fighting will not be permitted and can result in removal from the event
  14. Referee abuse will not be tolerated.
  15. Remaining minutes from a 10 minute misconduct will carry over to the next game.
  16. Players must play one qualification game to be eligible to play in the championship games Sunday
  17. Ties in Championship games to be settled with a 5 minute runtime overtime and then a 3 man (+) shootout.
    Players still serving a penalty at the end of overtime or capped are not eligible for shootout. Visitor bench shoots first
  18. TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR HAS FINAL SAY IN ALL MATTERS !
